Terms of Service

Last updated: May 31, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using the MyGenki app and related services (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

MyGenki is an evolving fitness tracking service. Features, content, and backend behavior may change over time as the Service is improved.

2. Eligibility and Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use MyGenki. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 18, we may suspend or delete it.

3. Account Registration and Security

  • An account is required to use authenticated features of the Service.
  • Authentication is provided through Firebase Auth and currently supports Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple where available.
  • During onboarding you may be asked to provide profile information such as display name, date of birth, sex, preferred unit system, initial weight, and initial height.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us promptly at contact@mygenki.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

4. Description of the Service

MyGenki is a workout tracking app. The Service may include features such as:

  • Workout logging
  • Routines and workout templates
  • An exercise library (provided and custom)
  • Workout scheduling and reminders
  • Analytics and progress tracking
  • Body measurements (including weight and height)
  • Profile settings and unit preferences
  • Local and push notifications
  • Optional Google Drive backup

MyGenki is local-first: much of your data is stored on your device, while some data is synchronized with MyGenki backend services.

5. Fitness and Health Disclaimer

MyGenki is a fitness tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

  • You are solely responsible for your own training decisions and how you use the Service.
  • Consult a qualified healthcare or fitness professional before starting, changing, or stopping any exercise program — especially if you have any health condition, injury, pregnancy, or other concern.
  • Stop exercising and seek medical attention if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or any other symptom that concerns you.

You use MyGenki, and any exercises, routines, or recommendations it surfaces, at your own risk.

6. User Content and Responsibility

You may create or upload content within the Service, including custom exercises, custom routines, workout entries, workout images, profile photos, body measurements, and other data you enter ("User Content").

You are responsible for your User Content. You agree not to upload or create content that:

  • is unlawful, harmful, misleading, infringing, defamatory, or abusive;
  • infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party;
  • you do not have the rights to use.

To operate the Service, you grant MyGenki a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display, transmit, synchronize, and back up your User Content solely as needed to provide app functionality to you.

7. App Content and Intellectual Property

MyGenki may provide exercises, routines, templates, recommendations, categories, images, analytics displays, and other content ("App Content"). App Content is provided for informational and fitness tracking purposes only and should not be treated as professional medical or personalized healthcare advice.

App Content, the MyGenki app, the MyGenki brand, and all related intellectual property are owned by MyGenki or its licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or otherwise misuse App Content outside the intended in-app experience.

8. Data Storage, Syncing, and Backups

  • Local app data may be stored on your device (for example, using SQLite/Drift and on-device preferences).
  • MyGenki may synchronize some data with MyGenki backend services.
  • API requests are authenticated using Firebase bearer tokens tied to your signed-in account.
  • Provided exercises and provided routines are server-owned content. Custom exercises and custom routines are User Content you create.
  • Operations such as creating, editing, or deleting body measurements may be queued offline on your device and synced when connectivity is restored.
  • Workouts, custom routines, schedules, training plans, custom exercises, workout-history analytics, and local photos are currently stored locally on your device and may be included in Google Drive backup if enabled, but are not currently synchronized to the MyGenki backend unless a specific feature says otherwise.

You are responsible for keeping independent copies of any data that is important to you.

9. Google Drive Backup

Google Drive backup is optional and must be connected manually from Profile → Google Drive Backup in the app.

  • Google Drive authorization is separate from your Firebase/MyGenki sign-in. The Google account you use for backup may be different from your MyGenki account.
  • Backups are stored in your Google Drive appDataFolder, which is private to the app and not visible in the standard Google Drive UI.
  • Backup files can include your local app database, and optionally local photos when photo backup is enabled.
  • Body measurements are excluded from Google Drive backup because they are synchronized with the MyGenki backend.
  • Auto-backup, when enabled, may run in the background using silent cached Google authorization. Auto-backup may be disabled automatically if Drive authorization becomes invalid.
  • You are responsible for your Google account, its availability, and your Google Drive storage. MyGenki is not responsible for the availability, integrity, or accessibility of data stored in your Google Drive.

10. Notifications and Communications

MyGenki uses local notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging ("FCM"). Notifications may include:

  • General push notifications (announcements and updates) — can be disabled in app settings.
  • Backup status notifications and workout reminders — controlled separately from general push notifications.

Enabled devices may subscribe to an FCM topic named general_updates. Received FCM notifications may be stored in a local in-app inbox on your device.

Notification delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your device, platform, network, operating system, and notification permissions.

11. Account Deletion and Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Additional Settings → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing contact@mygenki.app. See Account Deletion for full details.

  • Account deletion is permanent. Once deletion completes, your account and associated server-side account, profile, body measurement, tutorial, and other backend-synced data are deleted from active systems.
  • Account deletion also signs you out and clears local app data handled by the app. Google Drive backups and data outside MyGenki backend systems may require separate removal as described below.
  • Limited records may temporarily remain in backups, logs, security records, fraud prevention records, or legally required retention systems. Such records are removed or anonymized when no longer needed for those purposes.
  • Google Drive backups are not deleted automatically. If you used Google Drive backup, you must remove MyGenki backup files and revoke app access from your Google account separately.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or to protect MyGenki, its users, or third parties.

12. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • misuse the app, backend API, notifications, Google Drive backup flow, or authentication systems;
  • attempt unauthorized access to any account, system, or data;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the Service except as permitted by law;
  • conduct security testing against MyGenki systems without prior written permission;
  • send spam, malware, or other harmful traffic;
  • disrupt, overload, or impair the Service;
  • use MyGenki to store or distribute illegal, harmful, infringing, or abusive content.

13. Third-Party Services

The Service depends on third-party providers, including Firebase (authentication, FCM), Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, Google Drive, app stores, mobile operating systems, and network providers. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

MyGenki is not responsible for third-party service outages, changes, errors, or data handling outside of our control.

14. Service Changes and Availability

MyGenki is provided on an evolving basis. We may add, update, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, including sync, backup, notifications, analytics, routines, and provided exercise content. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available.

15. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. MYGENKI DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be accurate, be secure, or be free of errors, or that any data will be preserved without loss.

16. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MYGENKI WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM:

  • workout-related injuries, health outcomes, or training decisions;
  • loss, corruption, or inaccessibility of data;
  • service interruptions or unavailability;
  • third-party service failures, including Firebase, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, Google Drive, FCM, app stores, or network providers;
  • failed, delayed, or missed notifications;
  • backup or restore issues, including issues with Google Drive backups;
  • misuse of the Service by you or others.

You are responsible for keeping independent copies of important data.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Contact Information

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at contact@mygenki.app.
